    It has always been easier to define what a leader is not
    than characterise what leadership is.

    It is important to know that a leader has principles
    and is not a jelly backed chameleon. But inflexibility
    is not a virtue either.

    Leadership is only easy to recognise in retrospect
    but resuscitating someone from the past (if you could)
    may still fail as leadership qualities change with new
    circumstances.

    It is important, also, to recognise the difference between
    leadership and management. That's why a ship needs
    a Captain and a First Officer.
