So that is at least 4 from H.C. that have received calls - very strange.

The only reason I can think of is that they are concerned some of the big banks are lining up against them but don't have quite enough votes to defeat the poll by themselves. The intentions of the smaller investors could then swing the vote one way or the other, hence the polling.

I can't see any other scenario where the votes of the smaller shareholders would matter.
