    Woody,
When an infantryman picks up his Bergen it normally contains, food, water, medi kit, radio, sleeping bag, change of cloths, mission materials and yes, ammunition to keep him/her alive and safe for anything up to ten days. They frequently weigh more than 40lbs. They then put the Bergen on their backs and walk into danger. I've never heard a squadie express the concern "I hope I'm not making someone rich". My experience is they are thinking about their mates, their loved ones and the danger they are going to face. It's been this way from 1914. I think it likely that one or more of your ancestors did this to defend a way of life and freedoms including the freedom/duty to challenge/criticise:
    • governments thinking,
    • capitalism,
    • the industrial complex, and
    • rich shareholders.

I'd like alexiums  skills to make soldiers lives safer and to help lighten a soldier's burden (and Bergen) regardless of wether or not they have rich or poor parents

If you were ever face this situation, would you
    A) want heavy ammo,
    B) light ammo,
    C) someone else to do it?

I'll be donating on ANZAC day.
