Plastics have been used for a long time in blank cartridges. They are pretty hot from memory - when they go down your shirt after bouncing off your eye
Or am I rembering 9 mm brass down the shirt???
Also, propellant doesn't explode - it burns (very fast).
I can't see any reason why polymer couldn't be used in live Ammo. After all, silicone takes almost 200 degrees already.
Anyway - I doubt we would ever know what our polymers are used for in the military.
