Small scale boutique mining AKA NTL is certainly palatable in NZ by everyone except by the nutty green extremists who happen to reside in Coromandel or Stillwater.
Open cast mining is not.
I have tramped extensively all over NZ for 40 years and have never seen any mine disturbance to the country and I have been to a lot of places.
I have tramped extensively around where NTL is, but have seen boo, I still don't have a clue where exactly they are.
The old historic mining sites are quite cool and add to the majesty and intrigue of the place.
And the Rail Trail is a historic and popular tourist attraction.
If we got some half decent media coverage of the environmentally friendly way NTL are going to be mining.
It would encourage green investing, which is the fad at the moment, look at the NZ Super Funds for example.
