    He used to work for The West Australian newspaper, that's part of Seven West Media.
    Apparently he was hired by the ABC and filled the position of news political editor that was created for Chris Uhlmann before he left to take up a position with Nine news as a replacement for Laurie Oakes.

    The ABC have decided to do away with the news political editor position and concentrate on their digital presence.
    Probably trying to adapt to changing audience behaviour and cut costs to invest elsewhere.

    Something that NewsCorp are also doing.

    NewsCorp are attempting to adapt to a new audience as the old audiences die out.
    They are further pooling their masthead resources into an Editorial Innovation Centre.
    It will utilise artificial intelligence and “be the home of News’ multimedia content creation led by our most innovative story producers with the goal of publishing excellent journalism where new audiences are”.
    So more cost cutting and focus on retaining advertising dollar spend.
