Conspiracy theory? Maybe focus on the technical difference of their projects, one is shale, the other csg. Also the programs are at substantially different points of maturity I.e one had a gsa, the other not even a completed pilot well.

What are you missing; your first statement on csg and shale is incorrect. Oils ain't oils and gas ain't gas. Natural gas, or conventional gas has normally migrated to a reservoir after being "cooked" which results in a lot more ethane, propane pentane etc being included. These longer chain hydrocarbons, still in a gas state at rtp, put out a more energy - I think the avg energy content of NG is around 43MJ. Pure methane, which comes from coals only has around 39 MJ. Hence the requirement for spiking with other gases to lift the average calorific content.
