    Spot on watso.

I am working my way through a <$3 resealable pack of porride that does 14 decent bowls ... allowing for 1/2 cup of milk, a sprinkle of brown sugar nd a soft boiled egg on the side its a nutritious breakfst for under $1.

If you load up on salad or veges for other meals and make some sensible protein choices (eggs as in for an omlet, as in cottage cheese of ricotta for something with spinach, as in tinned fish to go with pasta or rice) but stay away from processed foods including bread you can eat incredibly well for under $3 per lunch or dinner.

A bbq chook for <$5 at the end of the day can provide solid protein for a minimum 4 meals, maybe 5 if stretched.

All that is required is the will, some skill and obviously some utensils and a cook top.

Modest skills training and a "cooking kit" that would fit in a lidded $10 box from Bunnings or KMart etc could go a long way to helping the homeless imo.
