Started reading the thread and stop after about 6 posts, perhaps too early but here goes;
Few families I know are just getting by after paying rent. Then as we all know a house hold appliance or car gets an issue. Savings gone for that item. Yes all examples are working and not on welfare except child payments.
Then the next bill comes in and this is pushed back. Yea some help from welfare eg salvos or similar but only so many times you can go and not feel like you are using the situation.
Two of these families both parents (or take turns) will miss a meal so the kids get the daily intake and they are not into the latest gadgets or smoke and drinking is not very often, nor can be afforded.
Just my observations of 3 families, not school dropouts but they are not in high paying jobs.
