re: uganda oil column and volumes Oilleak,

I have been doing some prelim. rough calcs on the very subject that you raise--pipeline or trucking. The distance we are speaking of is approx Botany Bay to Kempsey, almost 600 km. Caltex trucks do the trip in 7 hours; if we say 14 hours on the poor Ugandan roads it is still a sensible proposal, and the roads will be improved as HDR /TLW prove up the two fields in preparation.
As an old pipeliner, I would be considering a 15 to 18 inch dia pipe planned to take 60,000 bbls per day and offering more capacity as additional pump stations are added to handle new discoveries. This is by far the cheaper way to transport oil, but would involve an additional capital outlay which HDR/TLW would wish to avoid in the immediate stage.
So it will be trucking in the early stages; let us see at the later stage. Production most likely will commence mid 2007 to second half 2007 unless something very unexpected occurs.
