You can't ignore the very large number of holidays that teachers receive compared to the general community.It is a fact that must be considered when handing out the largesse of the kind just recently received courtesy of the Vic taxpayer.

The teachers that I know are no more special than others that work in various professions be they lawyers, nurses, accountants scientists etc etc. As far as I am aware they do not receive these numerous holidays. As far as I am aware the police and those employed in the MFB as fire fighters are the only Vic State employees that receive similar benefits.

More effort should also be made by State Governments to make teachers more accountable before handing out significant pay rises.
