Stepping back from the share price for a moment. Lynas is competing against China as the dominant global supplier. However has a western business ever been able to successfully compete against the other dominant Chinese industries?
For the following industries it has been a complete disaster trying to take the Chinese on:
1. Solar
2. Textiles
3. Steel
4. Low end consumer goods
5. Toys
Can someone please tell me why rare earths will be any different? Fortunes have been made supplying what China does not have, I am yet to hear of any being made giving them what they have mastered in?
