    Jovanco you are right for over 50% of people who own investment property its about reducing tax and over the years making some gains tied to an income return stream.
    If the tax system was changed negative gearing in effect would be unattractive and there would not be nearly as many investors. While a lot have blamed negative gearing I don't, I thinks people have just used it as a legit tool at there disposal to minimize tax.
    No government has the balls to bring in wide sweeping reforms
