Maybe you havent noticed there is hardly anyone walking around on the streets. The beaches are closed , the cafes closed , etc , there is no need for sydneysiders to go to bondi. Pop up is to test the stray backpackers who are being lax regarding social distancing and may have symptoms. If they need to test all the backpackers in east sydney all the better for the rest of us.

The spread is slowing and so is the need for mass testing. Those who go back to work in 3 to 6 months may need testing for proof of no virus but it is to be seen how fast the economy recovers. 8 to 10% unemployment could be the norm for a year or two. Everything is going online or takeaway, do businesses really need some of those laid off to come back.

We can say now that the trend is flattening, the question is whether that [will be] continued," Professor Rawlinson said.

"Certainly in terms of diagnostics we've seen fewer requests for testing as well as reduced numbers from the initial large numbers of fever clinics."
