pope close to death

I notice that the Pope is resting serenely in the Vatican. He has refused to go to hospital to get treatment (according to a Vatican statement). In light of the Terri Schiavo affair and the Vatican response why hasn't the Pope been sent to hospital to have a feeding tube inserted into his stomach, put on a dialysis machine, given a hart transplant, and had electrodes inserted into his brain. That may have kept him alive for the next 15 years. Then the Cardinals could have interpreted his groans, grunts and snorts to the faithful.
