That's obviously debatable, depending on your beliefs, etc.
What's not debatable are the brownie points we will garner for a very small amount of money among the nations that do believe it is sinking. Decarbonisation is going to be expensive enough for us as it is, this sort of offering could save us billions. I'm not sure how any side of politics could find a net negative in the cost-benefit analysis of this policy, it has a positive outcome from every Australian perspective.
