    My simplistic example is just that, but, illustrates a point.

    At the moment, population growth does represent a threat to human survival/ diversity. Like it or not, we humans are quite arrogant in our assumtions, this being that we can manipulate the environment to suit our needs.

    This can be done, to a point. But the reality is we don't have an intrinsic link with fundamental environmental factors. We are reliant on resources that are directly linked and that reliance becomes increasingly fraught with risk with increased population growth.

    An excellent example of out 'poor' understanding of our environment is the prediction of tomorrws weather let alone climate change.
