Populists are called what they are because they prioritise near term popularity over everything else. This is a bad approach to governance.
The worst of the populists only ever seek a greater than 50% approval rating and to Hell with everyone else. Polarising politicians are the worst kind of populist. The old saying about united we stand and divided we fall applies to the non-philosophy of these idiots. As they take everyone for a major fall populists become unpopular.
Populist politics screens like a reality TV show. The banter and ongoing stupidity is entertaining for a while but it can also reach its use by date fairly quickly.
