Another case of pork barrelling occurred in WA last year. Andrew Hastie arranged for the federal infrastructure fund to build a train station on the Perth to Mandurah line at a suburb called Lakelands within his electorate. This despite the community support and need for a station midway between Warnbro and Mandurah that will service 5 times the catchment of Lakelands. When the state govt asked for federal funds to assist with the mid point station they were rejected. The mid point station at Karnup is the southern boundary of a Labor held seat whereas Lakelands is in his seat and is largely made up of retirees. Money for one but not the other. Not even an offer to split the funds across both stations which would be perfectly reasonable.
