The world's population is growing rapidly and at the same time people are becoming wealthier. Furthermore, farmers have access to less land for their crops which has increased the demand for fertilizers that increase crop yields and quality. As the populations of up and coming economies become more prosperous often the first thing on their wish lists is better quality food. For example, meat consumption in China is rising rapidly. To grow food supply farmers feed more grains to their live stock. At the same time demand for biofuels (biodiesel and ethanol), which use grains, is also rising.
