They do and no they they don't.
I have recently driven in a Merc AMG S63 coupe and a Tesla model S. The Merc was the sexiest sounding thing ever with complete sensory overload, you were enveloped by the power at full noise.
The Model S was just the tires on the road noise. It was however frighteningly fast, threw you back into the seat even harder than the Merc through full acceleration and it was instant, much smoother and handled amazingly, made me giggle like a little boy.
Its a new world, the sensations are just as great, but different.
How much is a service on the Merc 5.5 litre bi turbo engine compared to what would get spent on an Ev? There are lots of things that will push this change but I think the buyers will be head over heels with the power of the Ev's at the top end.
As I average 70ish km's and never drive over 300km's in a day the whole distance argument seems mute to me. Just wish I had the money available for the Model S.
