The recent article in the Adelaide Advertiser stated fishing/aquaculture concerns about potential dust and other pollutants affecting the pristine local conditions. Other protest groups were concerned about the dust and noise affecting their quality of life and their real estate prices. Centrex states that the truck's trailers will be covered and the storage shed will be negatively pressurised to reduce the dust. But there is still the noise and the perception that the outskirts of Port lincoln will turn into an industrial area.

I think that the biggest issue is the real estate prices. Lower property values means lower council rates and less votes for the Mayor. These are big and important issues to the local govt. The Mayor says he will oppose Centrex using Proper Bay. This is not a good start, but it is certainly not the end of it either.

The state govt may overide the council, but as someone once said, "all politics is local."
