A few weeks ago (21 Feb), I note that Centrex had an agreement with G&Y to rail the ore to Port Lincoln. It had a mention in the Oz this morning in a section on iron ore juniors. I am curious to know where this would be shipped from. The existing railway serves the wheat silos which are built up to the south with housing and have foreshore to the north. There is nowhere suitable for an ore unloader or storage, especially since the old power station site next door was sold for expensive units. There would also be contamination issues with grain making the sharing of the jetty unlikely. One alternative would be to connect to the former Coffin Bay railway alignment which used to run within a km of the AN railway, though at a lower level. It went to Coffin Bay Jetty which was capable of taking decent size shipping and had a large storage shed and rail tippler. The Coffin Bay railway was operated by BHP for mineral sands but again, housing developments have reached the gates of the old lease. Interestingly, the CBR was standard gauge while the EPR is 1067mm narrow gauge.
Port Lincoln has a high concentration of the wealthy and tends to be green and heritage conscious. Good luck to anyone applying to build an iron ore stockpile.

    I don't hold CXM
