The fifth estate has a long history of criticising and smearing politicians. The public have had enough experience, generational cradle to grave, to distrust it. It's those people who actually swallow the news media as truth without fact checking who are the weakest links.
Politicians go in eyes widen open they will be ridiculed, investigated, rumour mongered and defamed. They have ample opportunity to prepare themselves for comeback. It was a lottery ticket who the minister was until Porter (naively) decided to put his face to the story, much to the relief of the other three contenders.
