Not the point. All exploration wells are abandoned.
However, if the well looks good, and you get a tool or bit stuck, you drill around it to re-drill the section and complete recovery. No gas discovery can be claimed unless they recover gas to surface by either production test or MDT. Does not matter what the logs say.
