The problem with what you are suggesting is simple. If I said I had 1,000 shares it would affect how people relate to any opinions I might share. If I said I held 10 million shares it similarly would affect how people relate to any opinions I might share.

So if I want to be more influential than the content of my posts I could fabricate a large holding in order to raise my status and give me greater credibility as an investor who should receive more respect.

I will give you an example. If you are a chartist you can pump up the effectiveness of your charting ability by claiming to hold millions and sell and buy millions for huge profits and establish a position with retail and create a following. If as a chartist however you never mention the number you hold or the profits you make or the brand of Champagne you drink the only thing you can be judged on is your charts.

There are many traders who I have read posts from over time and unfortunately for them I remember what they have said and there are a lot of porkies told by some about their successes.

We are anonymous and nothing we say should be believed until checked and it is impossible to check what you or I say about how many shares we hold so it is a no go area and rightly so.
