Federal Regulators are close to granting final approval for an in-situ uranium recovery project in Wyoming owned by Strata Energy.

On Friday, the NRC announced it had issued a final supplemental environmental impact statement for the company's Ross site. In January the agency completed a separate safety review, and neither found issues that would stand in the way of a license. All that remains to be completed before one is issued, according to an NRC release, is a review under the National Historic Preservation Act.

In October, the company headquartered in Alberta, Canada, began limited excavation and pre-license construction activities at the site near Oshoto, Wyo., according to a Strata release.
