Positive side to Xstrata Closing Smelter
One thing is for sure, there wont be any labour issues with CDU getting people to work at Rocklands. 500 people to lose their jobs at Mt Isa and a new mine opening just down the track.
I cant believe the luck or the timing with CDU. Roads with the Council JV, Port facility the only one not owned by a major and hopefully theres more to come. With Ernest Henry's grade for the past twelve months at 0.59%Cu and production down from 12mtpa to 4mtpa could be more good news for CDU.
Still Xstrata are making good money at 0.59%Cu, but probably not a lot left to mine so by the time CDU start up, maybe some more big X guys will jump boat and they already live in town some of the more senior people. There has been a bunch of Sinosteels people in town and I hear more coming so things must be hotting up. Hope the news is good and worth a trading halt.
