Whatever the reason we will not know but your suggestion about influencing the small sellers didnt have any impact in the opening.

I have been watching this stock for the last 4 trading days constantly and my opinion is that someone is on a mission to lower the share price.

They are doing a fantastic job at it which is helped by light support in the share price.

Another stock i have been watching is CGG , parcels of $100 trades every few minutes , check out the course of sales in this stock ! Very interesting.
