Black Swan - I am not much of a Gun's and Roses fan but I do enjoy playing Demon Patience which is a card game much like Klondike. However I am yet to strike it rich in Klondike or KAR but Patience is the key.
In response to your two points.
1) Hoskings stated in September that even though at present the Santos Basin is judged to be a 2C resource the strong production test results plus the shallow water and reservoir setting continue to support stand alone and combined development options. If you listened to the 30 min link above you would have heard that the price of oil is expected to rise to $85/ barrel in the long term which is well above the $45 need for KAR to be profitable.
2)The timing to me seems perfect as KAR oil production would be expected to start around 2018 just when global oil supplies dwindle.
