    1. Politicians cant really internally effect economic outcomes no matter what policy.
    They really only have three tools, tax, subsidies, spending and they have short term results.

    2. Externally you can effect economic outcomes with foreign policy. tariffs, subsidies, trade agreements.

    Trump wants to cut taxes which would be used for public spending, rip up trade agreements. His plan to introduce tariffs would create inflation and reduce disposable income.

    I don't know how you can say a destructive policy is better than unclear policy.
