Agree totally HotC. Vietnam is the big loser here ... China is Vietnam's biggest trade partner and at 25% of inbound tourists, also its largest tourism partner.

However, travel alerts have been issued ... "Both Taiwan and China issued travel alerts for Vietnam. The Chinese Embassy in Hanoi called the riots the work of "anti-China forces" and urged Chinese to be more vigilant about safety and not to go out if possible."

A weekend of continued rioting could well result in a (temporary) ban on tourism .... merely as a shot over the bow of HMS Vietnam.
