Victorian subsidy program was a farce to start with, always possibly politically hijacked or, as then followed, entirely dropped by next government.
Australian politics towards coal are so indecisive that the funding program in Victoria is only one of many shameful endeavours of our local industry to finally get clarity for the many employees of the broan coal industry.
Its a disgrace.
The Indian side of things is far more progressive, which is the direct result of extreme pollution levels domestically, the political environment of necessity to address the problem while facilitating the rapidly growing energy needs of a developing and densely populated country chasing the industrialisation success of its rival China.
A conservative government which supports business is the fertile ground for the innovative introduction of lignite technologies which are compatible with local resource and come with little managerial overhead in our case to deal with, cheap so to speak.
Therefore, a direct comparison between domestic and overseas attempts to commercialise our technologies is flawed. We also did not own Matmor until recently.
Current billion dollar companies in India are in an entirely different league economically.
