I think you will find that Tesla are not the only ev car maker in the world, most of the western world car makers: Volvo, VW, BMW, GM, Ford etc are currently developing/producing ev's plus China, much bigger with ev cars, buses, trucks, bikes and anything on wheels - it's just the way the world is, oil is dead, global electrification is on the rise (IMO).
Car companies probably won't be building ice cars in the next 10 years or so due to the rise of efficient, reliable clean electric vehicles and will there be any new ice cars to ban in Brittain by 2040? No!
Companies are researching / developing battery recycling - NMT and Tesla to name two that I know of.
Sorry coal and oil are dying, gas should be around for some time though
