We have bandicoots too Rudders. They dig all over the place, but don't cause any long term damage, in fact they eat a lot of the nasties. Shame about the worms they eat, along with the ticks they carry. Cockroaches are a delicacy. I feed ours with leftover meat, cut banana, blueberries or similar small fruits so they are relatively tame. The hungriest are the mothers carrying a baby in the pouch and become extra friendly taking food from your hands on occasion. Once the baby is ready to leave the pouch they will 'disappear', only to be replaced by another. Have had many little 'friends' at different times. Maximum visitors seems to be around three - a male, a young female and a carrying mother, with the females appearing from different directions.

Bandicoots are actually good for the garden clearing out unwanted grubs and increasing the nitrogen in the soil through aeration. Their numbers have been increasing with the reduction in fox numbers through concerted efforts by local councils.
