Hi Greensure
Occurrence of damaging fires in forest plantations are very rare. The space is usually managed too much to allow it to happen. Most fires which enter plantations form outside usually die down quickly. For this reason, insurance ofr plantation trees is very cheap. Not sure if CO2 has this.
If there were a fire I would expect only the CO2 released would be repayable. a large percentage of the CO2 sequestration is still held in the roots of the trees. (This also applies to harvestable timber plantations - the gov has released guidelines, but I do not have these to hand.)
The question of monoculture in diseases is more serious. Any more info anyone on the WA outbreak?
