I can vouch for that. My company recently hired four part-time, call centre operators ... all uni grads in their early 20's with HECS debts (gathering interest) who are struggling to find work in their chosen fields. I feel sorry for these kids because the longer it takes, the harder it becomes.
Obviously there's too many people competing for a limited number of jobs. The result is a highly educated, yet largely underutilised workforce. Despite what the Government would have us believe, it's hard to 'manufacture' jobs our of thin air without spending huge amounts of taxpayers money.
Unfortunately, the more jobs created, the more money spent, the more tax dollars required, the more we need to increase immigration, the more conflict arises as a result. Maybe we need more Politicians???
I think what a lot of good-natured, well-meaning people fail to reailse is just how intricately connected the whole system is. Sadly, we can't have our cake and eat it.
