Its not a silly idea at all ... why buy a fixed holiday home when for similar money you could buy that cat and cruise to different climes over a decade or so ... eg moor it in Tassie for a year or so and fly down for cheap weekends and weeks or more at a time ... then move on etc.

One of the best holiday we ever had with our kids was hiring a 36 ft cat for a weeks sailing around the Whitsundays.
