The illusion of needing power is what keeps a lot of people from realising their dreams.
Cats also have "power" & because of their shallow draft they need less of it to attain the same sorts of speeds as mono's ..... so way cheaper to run. The big thing is that hybrid systems are now available ex factory. Batteries are charged by turning the prop while sailing. Way cheaper. The whole idea of a cat is massive living area (comfort) & cheaper running/maint (can slip on a beach for defouling or repairs if you really need to) Also, once you get into the mindset of it being a mobile home, the concept of getting from A to B SUPER FAST (& needing to tow a fuel tanker behing you!!) is no longer a priority. It's much more relaxed than your typical weekend blast somewhere & back.
