Prospector1 no it's not spot on.
If I open a short position on LYC at 18c today for 18k my margin would be 10% or $1800. If LYC ceased to trade my position would be closed at 0c sometime down the line, giving me the maximum return (18k). If shareholders were later returned 2c for whatever reason the same difference would then deducted from my account ie 2k. The only issue would be having $1800 tied up in the margin until it all settled.
I couldn't care less what happens to LYC, I have zero positions.
