' Perhaps the "stand aside" might apply to traders Ecn,but investors?To sell for those holding under 12 months makes little sense as you loose a huge amount in CGT.'

I've seen many lose substantial amounts of capital holding off for that 12 month tax break so Yep , I personally apply that stand aside theory for investors aswell Dom but thats just me . I have a very strong focus on timing whether I'm investing or trading . There is nothing worse psychologically than entering a stock , no matter what your time frame, and immediately seeing your investment lose 30% through poor timing as against a 30% gain through good timing . Investors might disagree with this but my system is totally built around timing and acceptable risk reward and the more robust I can continue to build it around this philosophy, the more comfortable I feel. I know the old adage about investing but I just don't agree with it but that probably puts me in a minority. Good luck with AIM today . cheers ECN.
