I feel that Grasshopper05 summary / analysis to be quite accurate. Some 6 to 12 months ago I read a number of briefing notes about the future rise in demand for potash and fertilizers ingredients for a perceived shortage in food production and the need to treat producing land and new land with these products. - Having a close connection to farming / agriculture sector which supports this view.

BHP's move into potash comes at the right time, will (BHP's claim)show returns in 2 years and should the price of potash rise significantly then the returns will be much greater.

With the bid gone hostile indicates that BHP wont pay too much more in the short term. Longer term is a different matter

The SP most likely will decrease further with the SP recently hitting the 1st level of support at $38.43. From my charts I see the SP continuing its down trend with the next levels of support in the $36.32 to $37.64 range.

I am a long term holder of BHP and ride the increases and decreases as they happen...with a little CFD selling / buying now and then (Long stop $36.88. Short Stop 39.96)

Good Luck to all holders / sellers / buyers
