The majors will not buy in until the project meets their de-risked criteria.
It's far cheaper for a smaller company to get the project to a stage of development that the majors would take a lot longer for a lot more money due to all the extra internal layers of bureaucracy and useless management.
The projects that the major corporations will invest in have to be of a world class scale and the DNK project is world class, make no mistake on that front.
The biggest risk here is not if, but when the project will get bought out, it all comes down to getting it to the point of bankable feasibility and then we'll see who surfaces. My guess is the Indians and more than likely the Chinese with their three trillion dollar war chest to procure food security for their nation.
