Seek independent accounting advice to confirm the following, however this is how CDI's, Managed Funds and ETF's listed on ASX are typically taxed from my perspective.
Withholding tax is typically charged at 30% even if you supply TFN/ABN and will be reported through to the ATO via Link.
The final tax rate will depend on your actual tax rate. Typically appears in the ATO data by the 1st of August each year.
If held via SMSF, tax rate is 15% and you should get a credit back.
If held directly, tax rate is what your marginal tax rate is and may be due to pay more or less.
