Luciano, I do believe you're overthinking things. Rig pumps get heavy continuous use and require frequent maintenance and sometimes repair. Pump swabs have a finite life and swab changes are probably the most common repair job on a rig pump.

The rig pumps have nothing to do with a well being over balanced or under balanced......this is due to the difference between the mud weight and formation pressure. Mud weight is decided by the operator usually in consultation with the Mud Engineering service provider.
