Sonic method with depth-dependent normal compaction trendline (NCT),
and the effective stress method."

I've worked with pretty much all of these methods (mainly in real time while drilling) over the years but whenever I was asked by the drillers to make recommendations based on what the models were telling me my advice was given with a careful explanation as to the limitations of the models. Many clients also used third party pore pressure "specialists" but I reckon less than a handful of those people actually understood the models they were running and the limitations of same....it was often a case of run the model and then adjust the results to fit what they thought they should be...dangerous stuff.
