I suspect the main "benefit" out of deviated wells is the achievement of horizontal drilling.
I am happy to know that MK-2 is straighter than MK-1, de-risking further the CoS.
Still can't help to think back to MK-1 and wonder if things could have been done differently.
IMO the O&G industry lacks a statistical approach to drilling, especially for wild cat.
I do understand that CoS is already in itself a statistical approach, but surely it is only valid at the moment of starting a drill, and that is if we are not talking about MK-1....lol
There must be other factors/variables that determine a CoS and although it sound simplistic, if that is the best approach to eliminate emotions, why not?
What I am talking about is live data/info, to be inputted on a probabilistic computer model, which maybe is also able to give out alternative solutions, possibly thanks to AI.
