The comment of - Trace oil in Mud - on well logs, usually refers to oil detected in the mud by carrying out an analysis on the mud. These oil indications are usually not visible on the mud shakers themselves.

Slide 1 is a general description of how the drilling mud is treated when it returns to the surface re: "to see if trace amounts of oil and natural gas are present".

Slide 2 is from MAY's release on 1/2/22 showing "Significant volumes of oil on the shakers at intercept of "N" structure". This is obviously NOT a trace amount of oil!!

Slide 3 covers some general information I have on file regarding oil show indicators that can come from analysis of the rock chips. Descriptions of these types of oil shows are what companies usually release - especially fluorescence & cut.

I posted a review of my analysis of Marti-5's logging & testing (link below) on the 8/2/22 - the gist of my conclusion is that during the drilling of Marti-5 ,the very likely use of over balanced drilling, precluded significant oil shows ie: as seen by MAY when intersecting the N Structure, from being seen on the mud shakers.
