Back a few decades ago I knew many people obsessed by reducing their tax to the point of investing in dodgy schemes for tax deductions and other dubious manipulations.
I decided that if I was paying tax I was making a profit and that was a good thing.
Remember CGT is levied at your marginal rate and you get a 50% discount after holding the asset for at least 12 months. If you hold through a company there is no cgt discount available and if you hold through a super fund the discount is 1/3 (so normal tax is 15% and discounted tax is 10%).
Luckily my holdings are through my SMSF however this will still mean a multi million dollar tax bill when I realise my profits in Neuren. I’ll be very happy to pay this.
