One of the main underlying reasons for super tax breaks during ‘retirement’ phase is not to introduce double taxation on the money in the scheme, remember you have already paid tax on the money when it went in; and also remember that not all super funds make a lot of money. As well as this, is you have a SMSF and invested some in the small end of town you could just as easily have lost as many here have done before, no one is going to give you that money back or reduce your tax in the super fund during ‘retirement’ phase because of the loss are they.
Now to the sanctimonious, have you told your kids you’re donating everything to charity?
Why ‘did’ you invest in the small end of town, yes, it’s because the returns are huge if the end goals are achieved and I’ll bet you didn’t think then that ‘oh, I’ll give it all to charity’.

Well I’m sorry but charities can also be very wasteful, my advice, volunteer your time and leave most of it to your kids as long as they’ve been brought up to appreciate it.
